Life + 3watEr

life_natura_2000

The overall objective of the LIFE + project 3watEr is to restore and maintain specific habitat types and species of Community importance. The project’s targeted species are the Bittern and the tree frog in the pond area of Midden Limburg, Belgium.

This project is exceptional for several reasons. Firstly, the project goes through a unique private-public cooperation and a close collaboration between all stakeholders involved in the management of the area including private landowners, the agency for nature and forest, local municipalities, regional organizations and the Flemish gouvernement. For more information about the partners please follow the link.

The extraordinary nature is enhanced thanks to the Triple-E approach, which is the strong synergy of ecology, economy and education. This synergy ensures a strong and sustainable basis for the conservation of the targeted species on the long term and encourages the further development of this unique area which is attractive for tourists.
